Class Descriptions

Gentle Yoga

This class is an all levels class suitable for anyone wishing to stretch gently and relax.  A variety of postures will be taught with a focus on safety, alignment and stress relief.

Hatha Yoga – Level 1

Hatha Yoga is the most widely practiced form of yoga in the world. Hatha Yoga uses postures and conscious breathing, in combination with mental focus to develop awareness, strength, flexibility, and relaxation. Through proper alignment and mindful actions of the body, Hatha Yoga brings balance, strength, and a sense of well-being to the practitioner.

In this class you come away feeling ‘balanced’. Basic yoga poses are explored, as well as relaxation techniques and terminology that you will find in almost every other yoga class. The slow pace and simple breathing exercises make it a great place to learn basic poses and become comfortable on the mat which make it popular for beginners. The advanced practitioner will benefit from this class by diving deeper into the practice to explore endless possibilities. This class will relieve stress and promote a deeper relaxation while still providing physical exercise.

Hatha Yoga – Level 2

Level 2 takes the basics of Hatha and adds a playful element. This class is for those who want to explore more complex poses, or break down simpler poses, in a learning environment. Centered around a ‘theme’, a specific area in the body, or an apex pose, the instructor will encourage the student to go deeper into a posture, by allowing the body to be the guide. This class can be more, or less, challenging depending on how you are feeling that day.

Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is a quiet practice suitable for all students. This class is an opportunity to surrender, slow down and come back to balance. Many of the poses are seated, and are held for longer periods of time to encourage slow and safe openings. There is a focus on the breath, being present in the moment, relieving tension and letting go. The Yin practice includes powerful mental and emotional benefits as its practitioner becomes quiet, still and mindful of the present.

This class is open to all levels of students and is a perfect compliment to a more yang or active style of yoga such as Vinyasa, Power Flow (Power Yoga) or Ashtanga.

Yoga Basics

This class balances meditation and breath with instruction on pose alignment.  Modifications are taught to individualize the practice for each student.  Additionally, this class provides the foundational tools to build a life long yoga practice.  It is taught at a pace where students can deepen into a pose, fine tune their alignment and gain greater awareness.
